Background and Overview

A new law requires MBTA served Communities to have at least one zoning district of reasonable size in which multi-family housing is permitted as-of-right with zoning that allows a minimum gross density of 15 units per acre, located near public transportation, and eligible for families with children by not having any family related zoning restrictions. These provisions are specified in a new Section 3A of M.G.L. Chapter 40A.
