Mission
The committee consists of five dedicated residents with an interest in supporting Southborough's natural resources for passive recreation. It is the committee's responsibility to develop, enhance, maintain, and monitor the trails network. We work closely with town departments, organizations, state government agencies, and adjacent towns to explore interconnecting open spaces.
With the help of the Recreation Department, DPW, volunteers, Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts, we organize work parties to help keep the trails accessible. The website offers trail maps and descriptions for easy navigation and our Facebook page is also available to help keep residents up to date on trail happenings.
Goals
Our goal is to support a network of trails and encourage residents to enjoy Southborough's open spaces and conservation land. We encourage community involvement and support by overseeing trail projects, participating in local events, and we help to promote other local trail-related events.
History
The Select Board voted unanimously to create the ad hoc Trails Committee in early 2013. The founding committee members included: Jeffrey Beane, Dan Frank, Dan Guildford, Peter Kachajian, Jr., and Anthony Schoener. Many thanks to these members for their vision, commitment, and dedicated efforts throughout the years.
